Job summary

Peterborough City Council is recruiting a Cook for Cherry Lodge, a local authority children_s home in Peterborough. You will assist in producing meals for children staying at the home and support dietary requirements, allergens, and varied meal options.

The role requires adherence to food safety standards, managing kitchen cleanliness, and keeping records. Shifts run 14:00-19:00 weekdays with alternate weekends, pro-rata to part-time FTE. Salary is quoted as a full-time equivalent figure.

Qualifications

  • Previous catering experience.
  • Experience cooking for multiples of people.
  • Experience in ordering and stock control of food.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 is required.
  • NVQ or relevant Catering Certification is required.
  • Ability to work to a set rota including weekends/bank holidays.

Job description

All about the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team here at Cherry Lodge as a Cook and make a real difference to young people's lives!

Cherry Lodge is a local authority children's home and offers short breaks and shared care placements to children and young people with severe disabilities, complex health and behaviours that challenge between the ages of 5 and 18.

As a cook you will assist and produce a range of food and drinks for the children staying at our home.

It is also crucial to maintain an awareness of the specific needs of individuals e.g. food allergens, vegetarians, controlled diets and ethnic minority groups.

Another of your responsibilities as a cook will be to ensure for high standards of food hygiene including maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen areas and food equipment. This will include keeping safe food records and the execution of cleaning schedules.

You must be able to work within a rota pattern of shifts including 14:00-19:00 weekdays and working alternate weekends 10:00-15:00.

Please note the advertised salary of £28,598 - £26,403 is the FTE. As the role is part time hour this would be pro rata.

This is a rolling advert and will close once a successful applicant has been appointed.
