Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking a passionate Cook to join our care team at The Gables, Whitehaven. You will prepare nutritious meals, cater to dietary needs, plan menus, manage stock and maintain hygiene to support residents.

This permanent, part-time role (21 hours per week) offers a supportive environment, training opportunities, and a chance to make a real difference in residents' lives. A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is required, with a friendly, team-focused attitude.

Location: The Gables, Residential Home, Whitehaven

Salary: £25,583 per annum pro rata (£14,520 per annum pro rata salary)

Hours: 21 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About this opportunity

Cumberland Council is seeking a passionate and flexible Cook to join our dedicated care team. In this rewarding role, you'll be responsible for preparing and presenting nutritious, appetising meals that cater to a variety of dietary needs and personal preferences. You'll also help plan menus, manage stock, maintain hygiene standards, and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.

We're looking for someone with a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, experience in cooking for diverse dietary requirements, and a friendly, team-focused attitude.
