Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Clevedon is seeking a Controls Engineer to join an established engineering team. You will design, develop, test and support PLC and HMI control software for advanced engineering products, on-site in North Somerset.

The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams across the product lifecycle, producing documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement. A degree or equivalent in Controls or related discipline is preferred, with experience in PLC/HMI

Qualifications

• HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Controls Engineering, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience developing PLC and HMI software within an engineering environment.
• Knowledge of PLC programming including Ladder Logic, Structured Text and Function Blocks.
• Experience with HMI programming and technical documentation.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
• Desirable experience: Modbus TCP and EtherCAT communication protocols, PID control loops, functional safety, HAZOP or FMEA techniques, manufacturing or industrial control experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLC and HMI software in line with functional specifications.
• Design, test and validate control software solutions.
• Produce technical documentation and support release processes.
• Troubleshoot software issues and support manufacturing and service teams.
• Contribute to project planning, risk management and continuous improvement.
