Job summary
Automation Experts Ltd is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain PLC-based control systems for bespoke scientific equipment. You will build PC-based software and touchscreen HMI applications, using Ladder Logic and Structured Text, while ensuring safe operation through hardware and software interlocks.
The role involves fault-finding across hardware and software, supporting FAT/SAT at multiple sites, and contributing to future product development with strong
Qualifications
- Experience with PLC-based control systems and SCADA-like interfaces.
- Hands-on electronics knowledge and wiring interfaces.
- Proven ability to develop and test HMI applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain PLC control systems for bespoke scientific equipment.
- Develop PC-based software and touchscreen HMI applications.
- Programme using Ladder Logic and Structured Text.
- Design and implement hardware/software interlocks for safe operation.
- Fault-find and diagnose electrical, electronic and software issues.
- Support FAT/SAT activities in-house and at customer sites.
- Provide technical support for upgrades and future developments.
- Produce technical documentation and engineering records.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on new product development.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment and workflows.
- Travel to UK and overseas sites up to 10%.
