Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join the team between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, with UK and international travel. You will design, program and commission bespoke control systems across multiple industries, working with mechanical and electrical teams to deliver turnkey automation solutions.

Travel roughly 50% and on-site install/commission activities are expected. Essential skills include PLC programming (Allen Bradley/Siemens), fault finding, and strong

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial control systems.
• PLC programming with Allen Bradley and Siemens.
• Knowledge of EtherNET/IP and Profinet networks.
• Experience in manufacturing/automation environments.
• Strong fault finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Program PLCs, HMI/Touch Screens, SCADA and industrial network systems.
• Design bespoke control systems for automation projects.
• Work with panel builders to ensure systems meet specifications.
• Carry out on-site installation and commissioning activities.
• Provide service, support and fault finding on existing customer systems.
• Manage projects through all stages from concept to handover.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers during project delivery.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and other team members.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and to high standards.
• Travel throughout the UK and internationally to support installations and commissioning activities.
