Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a Controls Engineer to work on site in Cheltenham, with occasional travel to the US & Canada for commissioning. The role requires hands-on PLC programming experience and strong knowledge of industrial networks within manufacturing environments.

You will lead control-system projects from conception through build, install and set-to-work, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring high standards of delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial control systems and automated machinery.
• Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley / Siemens).
• Knowledge of industrial networks (EtherNET, ProfiNET).
• Background in manufacturing environments and processes.
• Ability to liaise with customers and suppliers to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Program PLCs, touch screens, networks and SCADA systems.
• Coordinate with internal panel builders to ensure builds match designs.
• Carry out on-site installation and commissioning of systems.
• Service and fault-find on existing installations.
• Manage projects and own select customer projects from concept through build.
• Train and mentor team members on control systems.
• Ensure projects are delivered to high standards and on time.

Job Profile for Controls Engineer - RF47638

My client specialise in the design, build and installation of bespoke control systems, factory automation systems and machinery, vision inspection, plastic container handling and robotics. They are on the lookout for a Controls Engineer to work onsite in Cheltenham and be able to travel to the US & Canada for site and commissioning work.

Controls Engineer Responsibilities

• Programming of PLC / Touch Screen / Network / SCADA
• Liaising with our internal panel builders to ensure the systems are built to the design spec
• On site installation and commissioning
• Service and fault find on existing systems
• Project management
• Ownership of certain customers projects from conception, design and build
• Training and mentoring other team members in control systems
• Ensuring all projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and in a timely fashion

Controls Engineer Position Remuneration

• Remuneration: £55,000-£62,000
