Job summary

MARCH in Sheffield is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team at our brand-new regional hub. You will lead the design, development and commissioning of advanced control and automation systems across various industries.

This role requires a proactive engineer with 2+ years in control and automation, a related degree, and excellent communication. You will deliver technical tasks, produce specifications, and collaborate with customers and teams to ensure high-quality

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in control and automation.
• Degree in Control, Automation, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Member of a relevant engineering body preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and commissioning of control systems.
• Deliver high-quality technical tasks within time and budget.
• Prepare specifications, design documents and reports.
• Configure software across platforms and industries.
• Test and commission controls safely in end-user environments.

Job description

We are now seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team at our brand-new, regional hub in Sheffield. This is a technically focused role, responsible for leading the design, development and commissioning of advanced control and automation systems across a wide range of industries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to all phases of the project lifecycle with a focus on high‑quality technical delivery.
• Communicate effectively with customers through meetings, presentations, and technical documentation.
• Deliver assigned technical tasks and projects in line with budget, quality, safety, and time expectations.
• Produce and review specifications, design documents, and technical reports.
• Configure and develop control system application software across multiple platforms and industries.
• Conduct testing and commissioning safely within operational end‑user environments.
• Maintain consistently high standards throughout the design and engineering process.
• Work independently or collaboratively within a team, adapting to various project and customer environments.
• Ensure full compliance with all requirements of the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS).

Skills, Experiences & Qualifications:

• Highly motivated, ambitious self‑starter with a strong interest in control and automation.
• Excellent interpersonal, technical, and written communication skills.
• Experience in designing and developing control solutions within Food, Utilities, FMCG, Process, or Materials Handling industries.
• Degree in Control, Automation, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Ideally a member of a relevant engineering or professional body.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the control and automation industry.
