Job summary

Gilbert-Ash in Belfast seeks a Contracts Surveyor to ensure surveying functions on allocated projects and maximise project profitability. You will liaise with Estimating, Purchasing and Project teams, analyse contracts, manage sub-contractor packages and produce cost appraisals.

Role requires 2+ years surveying experience, deep knowledge of construction processes, and a track record in contract negotiation with multi-disciplinary sub-contractors. Travel to UK/ROI sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience of surveying, planning, directing and co-ordination of projects.
• 3+ years’ experience of successfully managing commercials and co-ordinating work packages for projects.
• Sound understanding of the construction process.
• Proven track record of negotiating contracts with multi-disciplined sub-contractors.
• Building and managing of client expectations.
• Preparing, producing and presenting reports to Senior Management and Clients on a regular basis.
• Relevant technical knowledge.
• Contract law knowledge.
• Understanding of building law and regulations.
• Knowledge of health and safety matters.
• Experience producing detailed costing reports to senior management.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Estimating, Purchasing and Contracts Manager / Project Manager / Coordinator regarding sub-contract packages.
• Examine and analyse contracts documents and clauses; carry out feasibility studies and risk analysis evaluations.
• Ensure accurate and timely sharing of information.
• Analyse and select sub-contractors from tender documents and cost packages.
• Organise division of component work packages to sub-contractors.
• Carry out tendering and reporting for project works packages.
• Prepare and submit sub-contractor orders and ensure process schedules are in place.
• Liaise with site management on variations, dayworks, cost control, waste management and Architect Instructions.
• Prepare and submit payments for sub-contractors.
• Prepare and submit detailed regular valuations and cost appraisals.
• Close out sub-contractor contracts and update performance ratings.
• Maintain relations with Clients / Design Teams and stakeholders.
• Maintain records of activity for traceability.
• Monitor planning conditions and local spend / procurement.
• Maintain ISO 9001/14001/45001 procedures and CPD compliance.
