Job summary

Staffline is recruiting a Contract Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to provide hands-on maintenance in a busy, automated production environment in the Reading area. Rate £36-38 per hour (outside IR35), Contract initially 2 months with potential extension, Monday–Friday with 9-hour rotating shifts.

You will fault diagnose mechanically, service conveyors, motors, drives, pneumatics and basic PLCs; perform preventive and reactive maintenance; support projects and ensure high equipment uptime while

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in process production/manufacturing with conveyors, motors, drives, etc.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently on maintenance/modification projects.
• Proactive, problem-solving approach with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance of mechanical fittings to support production activities.
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery (conveyors, motors, drives).
• Support plant and automated systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, and handling equipment.
• Attend to breakdowns promptly, delivering fast, safe mechanical repairs.
