Job summary

Omega Plc in the United Kingdom is seeking a Contract Electrical Maintenance Engineer (temporary) to maintain production line equipment, perform planned and reactive maintenance on conveyors, motors and drives, and support automation systems to maximise uptime and performance.

You will diagnose electrical faults, read engineering drawings, and contribute to continuous improvement projects, in a wet, dust-prone manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Time-served apprentice or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience with conveyors, motors, drives, sensors & PLCs.
Strong multi-skilled electrical fault diagnosis in a production environment.
Preventative maintenance planning to avoid interruptions to food safety or production.
Quick turnaround repairs during high-volume peak periods.

Responsibilities

Carry out maintenance on production machinery and conveyors, motors, and drives.
Perform planned and reactive maintenance across production lines.
Support plant and automated systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, and handling equipment.
Attend to breakdowns promptly with fast, safe, and effective repairs.
Assist in modification and improvement projects on process lines and equipment.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to achieve reliability targets.
Maintain safe working practices and uphold engineering standards.

Job description

You'll play a key role in maintenance and fitting tasks, supporting production line maintenance and improvement projects while ensuring equipment uptime and performance. Key Responsibilities: Contract Electrical Maintenance Engineer - temporary

Key Responsibilities

Carry out maintenance
Perform planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery, including conveyors, motors, and drives
Support the plant and automated systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and handling equipment

Assist in modification and improvement projects on process lines and production equipment

Candidate Profile

Candidates with backgrounds as a Contract electrical engineer, Temporary Multi-Skilled maintenance engineer, electrical maintenance engineer, Engineer, Contract Engineer, Food Packaging Engineer

Additional Qualifications

Experience with conveyors, motors, drives, sensors & PLCs
Ability to cope with wet/dusty, contamination-prone environments
Preventative maintenance planning to avoid damaging food safety interruptions
