Contract Manager

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager working for the Fabrication Department of Galliford Try.

As a Contract Manager you will be responsible for the management of Fabrication Projects throughout the UK within the water sector, this will include health, safety and environmental performance, the programme, financial position, and overall performance of allocated schemes.

Within the role you will actively manage and seek improvements within the project life cycle including, tendering, design, supply chain, manufacturing, installation and handover.

Responsibilities:
  • Have experience of working in the fabrication and welding industry.
  • A high level of commercial awareness and technical operational knowledge is key; it will be down to you to make the required decision for the project success.
  • We're seeking a strong leader and an excellent team player who has successfully managed and developed teams, with the confidence to communicate with all members of project delivery both in house, sub-contractors, clients and suppliers.

  • Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders. Demonstrating strong ethical standards with openness and honesty.
  • Commitment to the provision of excellent customer service, passionate, committed, and enthusiastic in all that you do.
  • To manage the project team ensuring that each member has a clear set of objectives to follow and clear roles and responsibilities
  • To assist the Operations Manager, Installation Manager and Workshop Manager with the utilisation of the direct labour resources where possible across the projects
  • To assume responsibility of the financial performance of the portfolio of projects with overall responsibility for Profit/Loss on contracts under the Framework
  • To produce project performance reports and participate in monthly financial / programme reviews for all schemes with the Installation Manager
  • To ensure compliance with all company commercial and financial procedures
  • Complete contract documentation
  • Establishing and agreeing price variations and final accounts
  • Prepare estimates and quotations & provide tender vetting for others
  • Ascertain preliminary and detailed design/project requirements and solutions
  • To closely liaise with other departments, such as tendering and design, to ensure resources are correctly allocated and client requirements are fully achieved
  • Attend site visits/meetings
Experience and Qualifications:
  • An industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent
  • H&S qualifications (desirable)
  • IOSH or CITB 5 Day Site Safety Management (SMSTS),
  • CSCS card
  • Demonstratable experience working with NEC suite of contracts
  • Demonstrable experience of working within the water and / or sewage industries
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Strong team player but also able to work as an individual
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines
  • Able to work in a busy environment under pressure
