Job summary

Ruth Wagstaff Recruitment is seeking a Contract Maintenance Engineer to support food manufacturing sites across Leicestershire on ad-hoc 12-hour night shifts. You'll provide hands‑on engineering support to keep plant and equipment safe and running through the night.

You will perform reactive and planned maintenance, fault finding on electrical and mechanical systems, and assist in CMMS documentation. This role offers flexible nights and potential ongoing contract work.

Qualifications

• Time-served / apprentice-trained.
• C&G / NVQ Level 3 qualified; ONC/HNC advantageous.
• Strong across electrical and mechanical maintenance.
• Experience within food or FMCG manufacturing is essential.
• Confident fault finder with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Reactive and planned maintenance across production equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Fault finding and repairs across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Supporting production to minimise downtime.
• Completing planned maintenance tasks and engineering documentation.
• Maintaining high standards of engineering and repair.
• Updating CMMS records.
• Supporting continuous improvement and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Contract Maintenance Engineer - Nights

Where are our night owls?

Food Manufacturing Leicestershire Ad-hoc 12-hour Nights Up to £40 per hour

We're looking for experienced Contract Maintenance Engineers to support busy food manufacturing sites across Leicestershire on ad-hoc 12-hour night shifts.

This is a great opportunity for a Contract Maintenance Engineer looking to pick up additional shifts on their days off, boost their income or secure regular contract work without committing to a permanent position.

What's on offer?

• £27.50-£30.00 per hour - PAYE direct with Wagstaff Recruitment
• £35.00-£40.00 per hour - PAYE via our accredited payroll partner
• 12-hour night shifts
• Ad-hoc / flexible shifts
• Inside IR35
• Potential for ongoing contract work

The Role

As a Contract Maintenance Engineer, you'll provide hands‑on engineering support to production, helping to keep plant and equipment safe, reliable and running efficiently throughout the night.

You'll be responsible for:
