Job summary

Omega Leeds is seeking a Night Shift Contract Maintenance Engineer for a fast-paced manufacturing and logistics operation in Pontefract. The role covers electrical and mechanical maintenance on process and materials handling machinery, with hours 22:00–06:00, Sunday to Thursday, and a PAYE umbrella arrangement.

Candidates should hold a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with PLC/automation experience.

Qualifications

• PLC / automation experience is required.
• Hands-on maintenance skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Ability to work nights and adhere to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• To service, adjust and repair process and production materials handling machinery and equipment using the necessary tools in a safe and proper manner.
• To examine machinery and equipment and report on condition, performance, and plan of action for improvements.
• Carry out Planned and preventative maintenance to agreed schedules.
• There is a potential of overtime and flexibility will be required to support this when needed.

Pay Range: £40 - £42 per hour open to experience and expectations

Contract Type: Contract nights cover due to peak demand, 10pm-6am Sunday to thursday nights

Qualifications & Requirements – Contract Maintenance Engineer - Nights

• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical or mechanical engineering or similar manufacturing or automation
• Or equivalent of any of the above in electrical or mechanical fields preferably with a manufacturing background
• A competent electrical or mechanical engineering professional with technical experience
• Must be able to solve problems, PLC / automation experience ideally produce safe systems of work
• Should be capable of contributing to the development, manufacture, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, process or service
• This is an all-round hands-on maintenance electrical role ias well as conveyors and processing
• Extensive planned maintenance tasks and organisation of the engineering plant is also essential

Candidates who are currently a Contract Electrical Engineer, Contract Electrical Shift Engineer, mechanical maintenance engineer, Contract Multi Skilled Shift Engineer, Electrical Maintenance, Maintenance Engineer, Multi Skilled Engineer, machine tool maintenance , Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Shift Engineer, Fitter, Plant Engineer, Electrician and Electrical Engineer and any equivalent background will be suitable for the role.
