As the Contractor Controller (Electrical), you will supervise and coordinate electrical maintenance contractors and support the delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality electrical maintenance services across Coventry University Group's campuses. You will be responsible for overseeing contracted planned preventative maintenance, reactive works, statutory inspections, and minor electrical projects, ensuring all activities are carried out in line with contractual obligations, statutory requirements, and agreed service levels.
A key part of the role involves managing contractor performance, reviewing risk assessments and permits to work, auditing workmanship quality, and ensuring compliance with electrical safety procedures. You will act as the primary operational link between contractors, in-house te chnical teams, faculties, students, and stakeholders, helping to ensure works are delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption to campus activities.
Using the Planon CAFM system (training provided where necessary), you will coordinate maintenance activities, maintain compliance records and asset information, monitor contractor KPIs, and support the administration of electrical contracts. You will also provide technical guidance on electrical systems, assist with fault finding and incident response, and support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives across the Estates and Infrastructure Services team.
We are looking for an experienced electrical professional with a strong background in electrical maintenance, contractor supervision, or building services environments. This role would suit an Electrical Supervisor, Senior Electrician, Electrical Maintenance Coordinator, Building Services Engineer, or someone with similar experience who is ready to take the next step in their career.
You will ideally hold a recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or Building Services, such as an NVQ Level 3/4, HNC, City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent experience. An understanding of electrical compliance requirements, contractor control procedures, and safe systems of work is essential, together with knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
The successful candidate will have experience coordinating contractors, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, managing permit-to-work processes, and supporting statutory inspection and testing programmes. Experience using CAFM systems such as Planon, maintaining compliance records, and working with a wide range of stakeholders will be highly beneficial.

Most importantly, you will be committed to delivering an outstanding maintenance service that supports the University's facilities, staff, students, and wider community.
As this role supports multiple locations across the Coventry University Group estate, you must be willing and able to travel to regional campuses including Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London, and Dagenham as required. Occasional overnight stays may be necessary. You will also participate in the management call-out rota and contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance services across the estate.
