Job summary

Coventry University Group is seeking an experienced Contractor Controller (Mechanical) to join our Estates Team. You will supervise and coordinate mechanical maintenance across the Group's estate, ensuring planned and reactive works are delivered safely, compliantly and to a high standard.

The role covers multiple Coventry University Group locations, including Coventry, Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London and Dagenham, so travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.

Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical/building services qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or HNC, or equivalent experience.
• Strong mechanical building services knowledge.
• Experience supervising contractors and managing RAMS and permit-to-work processes.
• Knowledge of mechanical compliance and safe systems of work.
• Experience with CAFM systems would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support continuous improvement across the Estates service.

Coventry University Group is looking for an experienced Contractor Controller (Mechanical) to join our Estates Team.

In this role, you will supervise and coordinate mechanical maintenance contractors across the Group's estate, ensuring planned and reactive works are delivered safely, compliantly and to a high standard.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Coordinating planned, reactive and statutory mechanical maintenance.
• Managing contractor performance, KPIs and service levels.
• Reviewing RAMS and permits to work and auditing workmanship.
• Supporting mechanical compliance, inspections and testing.
• Providing technical guidance on mechanical building services, including HVAC, pumps, plant rooms and water systems.
• Using the Planon CAFM system to coordinate works and maintain accurate records.
• Liaising with contractors, technical teams and wider University stakeholders.
• Supporting continuous improvement across the Estates service.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Techanical Supervisor, Senior Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator, Building Services Engineer or similar professional.

You will ideally have:

• A relevant mechanical/building services qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or HNC, or equivalent experience.
• Strong mechanical building services knowledge.
• Experience supervising contractors and managing RAMS and permit-to-work processes.
• Knowledge of mechanical compliance and safe systems of work.
• Experience with CAFM systems would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

The role covers multiple Coventry University Group locations, including Coventry, Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London and Dagenham, so travel and occasional overnight stays will be required. You will also participate in the management call-out rota.
