A bit about the role...

Working as part of the User Centred Design team alongside a passionate community of service designers, user researchers, interaction designers and content designers, you will evaluate, design and improve content across end-to-end user journeys for our internal and external services.

Joining the Digital team at a time of continued transformation, you will play an important role in developing modern, user-centred services that support our mission and enable us to better serve the housing sector.

You will create clear, accessible content that meets user needs and supports Homes England’s strategic objectives. You will play an important role in developing modern, user-centred services that deliver better outcomes for both colleagues and customers.

This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to work on complex, socially important services. You will make information easier to understand and act on, helping users achieve their goals while supporting better housing outcomes, and contributing to more effective internal services and ways of working. Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will use evidence from user research, data and feedback to make informed content decisions and continuously improve services.

You will design and publish digital content, prototype and test ideas, and manage content throughout its lifecycle. You will also contribute to content standards, style guides and design patterns, build effective relationships with stakeholders, and share good practice across Homes England and the wider content design community.

A bit about you…

You are an experienced content designer who is motivated by making services clearer, simpler and more accessible. You understand user-centred design and accessibility standards, and you can turn complex information into content that helps people understand what they need to do.

You are comfortable working in an agile environment and using appropriate prototyping techniques to explore and refine solutions before they are implemented. You use user research, data and feedback to identify problems, test ideas and improve content. You are confident designing and publishing digital content using content management systems.

You work collaboratively with designers, researchers, delivery colleagues and subject matter experts. You can explain and evidence your content decisions, influence stakeholders at all levels and build agreement. You care about quality and consistency, and you are keen to contribute to content standards, reusable patterns and continuous improvement across services.

We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, collaborative and committed to continuous improvement. You’ll contribute to our growing User Centred Design Community by sharing knowledge, promoting best practice and supporting the development of colleagues.
