A bit about the role...

We are looking for talented individuals with housing and regeneration experience to join our professional, dynamic and experienced team in the Midlands led by our Executive Regional Director.

The role will focus on the delivery of key housing schemes, alongside the development of new opportunities across the Midlands. Our priorities include new settlements, Sustainable Urban Extensions and projects that achieve transformative urban regeneration throughout England. Partnership working is key to the role, including long-term partnerships with Mayoral Combined Authorities, strategic authorities as well as local authorities and the private sector.

Based in the Birmingham office, we are seeking candidates to work in the Midlands Regional Team; a multidisciplinary team with a remit to identify, lead on and provide technical and specialist advice to support to large-scale, complex and innovative projects that require multiple interventions and cross-government working. The team will work closely with the wider Agency and other government departments to provide a bridge between policy, strategy and delivery.

A bit about you…

Working in the Midlands Regional Team, you will lead on the delivery of a portfolio of large-scale, complex growth projects. You will be part of a friendly team that ensures regeneration and housing projects are delivered in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. This means developing and leading on projects that align with our Strategic Plan and working on business case propositions to draw-down available capital funds in an innovative and problem-solving way. Your role is to ensure that projects happen.

You’ll collaborate with partners, working with Combined Authorities, Local Authorities and private sector partners to help build the development pipeline and investment ready projects.

You will lead a number of your own projects and use your technical and commercial expertise to provide strategic and expert advice in the field across a range of property related issues. This will include large-scale infrastructure and development, delivery strategies, land assembly, delivery models and funding mechanisms. Familiarity with the business case process and experience in engaging with government departments on major strategic projects will also be valued.

The role requires you to work on projects across the Midlands within multi-functional teams and an ability to work collaboratively with others is key to success in this role.

Whilst our day job is to deliver first class customer service to our stakeholders, you will be used to ‘spinning several plates’ at once and work at pace through a range of different tasks and priorities to deliver on competing responsibilities whilst looking for ways to improve and innovate.

You will be educated to a degree level, with a recognised professional qualification, for example RTPI/RICS and/or have project management experience or experience in engineering, urban regeneration or in finance and have the skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. You will possess expert real estate, commercial, and development knowledge.

You will be resilient and comfortable managing multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders at a senior level, and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

You will have excellent communication skills with experience of presenting and delivering messages in a clear, concise and confident manner, which engages audiences and achieves the desired outcomes. You’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.

You would be joining the Agency at an exciting time. The launch of the Strategic Plan, the National Housing Bank and National Housing Delivery Fund all represent opportunities to make a real long-term difference to communities, and we want the best people possible to be part of that change.
