Job summary

Forth Ports Group in Tilbury is seeking a Container Terminal Operative to support landside and shipside operations at the Port of Tilbury. You will drive straddle carriers, handle cargo, and maintain safety and quality as part of a dynamic team.

The role offers full-time, permanent employment with shifts that may include early, late, night, or weekend work. Training is provided, and employees benefit from a competitive salary and a range of welfare programs.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
• Willing to work a flexible shift pattern including weekends.
• Experience in ports and with plant machinery is preferred but full training provided.
• Team player who can contribute to port operations.

Responsibilities

• Drive straddle carriers to move containers within the Terminal/Port to service landside and shipside operations.
• Perform manual handling, lashing and mooring.
• Deliver cargo to and from vessels in the condition received at the terminal.
• Carry out cargo handling, housekeeping and basic maintenance tasks.
• Follow computer-delivered instructions and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain shift start/finish time integrity and secure company property and equipment.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line manager.
