Job summary

Manpower (United Kingdom) is seeking a reliable Multi-Skilled Dock Operative / Stevedore in Scunthorpe to support cargo handling across vessels, quaysides, terminals and storage facilities. The role focuses on safe, efficient cargo movement and vessel turnaround.

Flexibile hours (6am–10pm) with CHIPS qualification and full training provided. Overtime and weekend work opportunities are available.

Qualifications

Experience in stevedoring, port, cargo handling, warehouse or similar operations is essential.
Comfortable with manual handling and physically demanding work.
Willingness to complete CHIPS qualification and any required training.
Ability to follow health and safety procedures in fast-paced environments.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Work in vessel holds during cargo loading/discharge with visual oversight of cargo movements.
Direct crane operators using hand signals and radio to position cargo.
Coordinate cargo handling activities and allocate work safely and efficiently.
Liaise with supervisors, vessel crews and dockside teams to follow cargo plans.
Follow shipboard procedures, safety protocols and health regulations.
Perform shore-side cargo handling at quaysides, terminals and yards.
Assist with loading/unloading, transfer, securing and storage of cargo types.
Support cargo movement between vessels, warehouses and onward transport.
Undertake general dockside labouring to meet operational demands.
