Stafforce Ports is recruiting for Port Operatives in Ipswich to unload/load vessels for a national port operator. Work mainly in the Fertiliser Bagging Plant, with forklift operation and potential to act as Slinger/Banksman or Front End Loader Driver. Roles require flexibility for 12-hour shifts and possible weekend overtime.

Training provided, safety is priority, and ongoing opportunities across vessel discharge, bagging, and logistics are available. Gap coverage across East Anglia offered.

Qualifications

• Flexible and reliable with long shifts (up to 12 hours) and possible weekend work.
• Willingness to work across port operations and bagging operations.
• Valid B1Forklift Licence with at least 12 months experience.
• Slinger/Banksman certificate preferred but training provided.
• Must pass drug and alcohol screening.
• Safety Medical provided as part of recruitment process.
• Attend CHIPS and Ammonium Nitrate Awareness training if not already held.
• Experience in cargo handling/logistics is advantageous.
• Able to work in a physically demanding environment as part of a team.
• Committed to working safely in line with Work Safe Home Safe Policy.

Responsibilities

• Unload/Load vessels as part of port operations.

Job description

Salary: GBP16.58 - GBP33.16 per hour + Monthly Overtime

Stafforce Ports are Recruiting for Port Operatives to work as part of our Ports Team Unloading/Loading Vessels for our prestigious client who are a National Port Operator based in Ipswich. You will form part of a crew working in the Fertiliser Bagging Plant.

The role involves working Monday to Friday & could involve additional weekend working at times. You will need to be flexible regarding shift start times as this is live shipping and the pay rate includes a shift premium for this reason. The role is varied as the port currently handles timber, aggregates, salt, grain & fertiliser cargo's. you will primarily work in the Fertiliser Bagging Plant but will alsodrive an FLT &could also be asked to work as a Slinger Banksman, Front End Loader Driver when required & additional training will be provided where required.

We Require:

• A flexible and reliable approach to work – shifts can be up to 12 hours long, and day and eveningavailability is required. There is also potential for weekend overtime.
• A Willingness to work across both port operations and bagging operations.
• A valid B1Forklift Licence with a minimum of 12 months proven experience – in-house certificates cannot be accepted.
• A Slinger/Banksman certificate – preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided.
• Compulsory drug and alcohol testing – all operatives must be able to pass screening prior to assignment and on a random basis.
• Safety Critical Medical – this will be provided as part of the recruitment process to ensure fitness for work.
• You will also be required to attend the following training courses, if not already attained:
• CHIPS (Cargo Handling in Ports)
• Ammonium Nitrate Awareness
• Ideally some previous experience in cargo handling, logistics, or heavy industry (not essential – full training provided in other areas
• Ability to work as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.
• Commitment to working safely to fall inline with our Work Safe Home Safe Policy.

We Offer:

• After a period of Training paid at £12.71 per hour you will be paid the rates shown below.
• £16.58 per hour (including shift allowance) – paid via PAYE on a weekly basis.
• Weekend overtime Saturday 1.5 x Basic & Sunday Double Time.
