Job summary

Stafforce Ports is recruiting Port Operatives in Ipswich to unload and load vessels for a national port operator. You will work in the Fertiliser Bagging Plant, with FLT duties and potential Slinger Banksman tasks. Shifts can be long with weekend overtime and a shift premium applies.

Applicants must hold a valid B1 Forklift Licence with 12+ months experience and be willing to train across port and bagging operations. Drug testing and safety medicals are required.

Qualifications

• Valid B1 Forklift Licence with at least 12 months proven experience.
• Slinger/Banksman certificate preferred but training can be provided.
• Compulsory drug and alcohol testing before assignment and at random.
• Safety Critical Medical will be provided as part of recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Unloading and loading vessels as part of port operations.
• Work primarily in Fertiliser Bagging Plant; assist with bagging operations.
• Operate FLT when required and assist with other lifting duties.
• Potential to act as Slinger Banksman or Front End Loader Driver as needed.
• Work Monday to Friday with possible weekend overtime; adhere to safety policies.

Stafforce Ports are Recruiting for Port Operatives to work as part of our Ports Team Unloading/Loading Vessels for our prestigious client who are a National Port Operator based in Ipswich. You will form part of a crew working in the Fertiliser Bagging Plant.

The role involves working Monday to Friday & could involve additional weekend working at times. You will need to be flexible regarding shift start times as this is live shipping and the pay rate includes a shift premium for this reason. The role is varied as the port currently handles timber, aggregates, salt, grain & fertiliser cargo's. you will primarily work in the Fertiliser Bagging Plant but will also drive an FLT & could also be asked to work as a Slinger Banksman, Front End Loader Driver when required & additional training will be provided where required.

We Require:

• A flexible and reliable approach to work - shifts can be up to 12 hours long, and day and evening availability is required. There is also potential for weekend overtime.
• A Willingness to work across both port operations and bagging operations.
• A valid B1 Forklift Licence with a minimum of 12 months proven experience - in-house certificates cannot be accepted.
• A Slinger/Banksman certificate - preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided.
• Compulsory drug and alcohol testing - all operatives must be able to pass screening prior to assignment and on a random basis.
• Safety Critical Medical - this will be provided as part of the recruitment process to ensure fitness for work.
• You will also be required to attend the following training courses, if not already attained:
  • CHIPS (Cargo Handling in Ports)
  • Ammonium Nitrate Awareness
  • Ideally some previous experience in cargo handling, logistics, or heavy industry (not essential - full training provided in other areas)
• Ability to work as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.
• Commitment to working safely to fall inline with our Work Safe Home Safe Policy.

We Offer:

• After a period of Training paid at £12.71 per hour you will be paid the rates shown below.
• £16.58 per hour (including shift allowance) - paid via PAYE on a weekly basis.
• Weekend overtime Saturday 1.5 x Basic & Sunday Double Time.
• Potential monthly overtime paid at 1.5 x Basic pay.
