Job summary

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust invites applications for a Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia. The post supports anaesthesia across four sites with a large team, teaching a mix of trainees and medical students, and contributing to CME and governance activities.

The role includes shared departmental management, participation in audits, and delivering pre-operative assessment sessions as part of a forward-looking, patient-centred service.

Responsibilities

• Share day-to-day management of the Anaesthetic department with colleagues.
• Teach and train anaesthetists in training, residents and medical students where applicable.
• Active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
• Engage in Clinical Governance and Audit, quality improvement and data analysis as appropriate.
• Attend care group and directorate meetings, and fulfil the weekly timetable including out-of-hours duties.
• Deliver pre-operative assessment sessions.
