Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust invites a Consultant Anaesthetist to join a forward-thinking anaesthesia department on the Devon/Cornwall border. The role covers general surgery, major trauma, obstetrics, and neurosurgery, with on-call duties and responsibility for peri-operative allergy clinic management.

You will contribute to teaching and research in partnership with the University of Plymouth, mentor junior doctors, and participate in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• CCT or CESR with eligibility to practise in the UK.
• Excellent communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Broad experience in adult anaesthesia including peri-operative care.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality anaesthesia across general surgery, major trauma, obstetrics, and neurosurgery.
• Contribute to teaching and training through the University of Plymouth partnership.
• Develop a flexible job plan to balance service needs with clinical interests.
