Consultant Clinical Scientist – Head of Health Physics

Join us to apply for the Consultant Clinical Scientist – Head of Health Physics role at NHS Scotland.

Position Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, one of the UK's largest healthcare systems, employs around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We serve a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

The role involves leading the Health Physics section, providing ionising and non-ionising radiation protection services, and Medical Physics Expert services in Diagnostic Radiology. The department is part of the Department of Clinical Physics and Bioengineering, one of the largest in the UK, serving eight Health Boards in Scotland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of physicists and technologists.
  • Drive continuous improvement in response to legislative, technological, and clinical changes.
  • Oversee education and training programs, including collaborations with the University of Glasgow.
Candidate Requirements
  • Good honours degree in Physical Sciences, MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent, PhD preferred.
  • Registered Clinical Scientist with HCPC.
  • Current certificates as RPA2000 Radiation Protection Advisor and Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Strong management, communication skills, and a research portfolio.
