NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the UK's largest healthcare systems, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.
The post involves a shift pattern from 8.45 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with participation in the on-call advice rota.
Following the retirement of the current post holder, we are inviting applications for a full-time Consultant Clinical Scientist to join our team at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The team comprises 4 consultant staff and 7 clinical scientists within the Biochemistry Department. The successful candidate will support the Clinical Biochemistry service across North Glasgow, playing a strategic and clinical role in the laboratory's core section. An interest in laboratory IQC/EQA, automation, and immunoassay is desirable.
The role involves participation in all departmental activities, including reporting, clinical liaison, research and development, teaching, and audit.
Applicants should possess advanced specialist knowledge and interpretive skills in Clinical Biochemistry, be HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist, hold an MSc or equivalent in Clinical Biochemistry, and have obtained FRCPath.
