The Lancashire Cardiac Centre at Blackpool Victoria Hospital is recruiting a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon to join a 10-strong team of Cardiac, Thoracic and Cardiothoracic colleagues. You will participate in a 1:6 on-call rota, with a dedicated aortic on-call rota 1:4, and contribute to service development with Cardiology and Interventional Radiology.

The post involves Direct Clinical Care in theatre and outpatient settings, support for a Surgeon of the Day, and involvement in in-house

Qualificações

• Essential: Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date.
• Essential: Full GMC registration.
• Essential: MB ChB or equivalent.
• Essential: Minimum of 6 months Cardiothoracic experience.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Effective teaching skills.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload and to delegate responsibility and supervise staff.
• Ability to motivate and inspire a multi-disciplinary team and work sensitively within teams and across organisations.
• Involvement and evidence of implementation of service development and managing change in a healthcare setting.
• Leadership skills – ability to take responsibility, show leadership and make decisions.

Responsabilidades

• Direct clinical care in operating theatre.
• On call duties: 1:6 rota with a 1:4 aortic on-call rota.
• Work closely with Cardiology and other specialists such as Interventional Radiologists.
• Support the introduction of Surgeon of the Day to improve availability and cross-speciality dialogue.
• Contribute to in-house urgent cases and waiting list improvements.
