Job summary

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) invites applications for a Work Experience Officer - Construction at Newcastle College. You will develop and coordinate meaningful work experience opportunities for Construction learners, and engage employers to create placements.

Ideal candidate has substantial experience supporting young people in education or employability, holds English and Maths GCSE, is an effective communicator, and can manage records using databases.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant qualification.
• Has substantial experience of supporting young people or learners within an education, employability or structured support environment.
• Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
• Is an effective communicator.
• Has strong administrative skills, well organised, able to keep accurate and easily retrievable records.
• Holds a current driving licence and has use of a car.
• IT literate, experience of using MS Office software and databases.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive and professional relationships with construction employers, promoting the benefits of providing work experience and supporting employers to participate effectively.
• Work closely with curriculum teams to identify learners requiring work experience and understand the requirements and intended outcomes of their placement.
• Match learners to appropriate work experience opportunities, taking account of their programme of study, career aspirations, skills, individual circumstances and the requirements of the employer.
• Support learners to become work and site-ready prior to placement, including relevant pre-placement requirements such as CSCS cards and other industry-specific requirements where appropriate.
• Ensure all necessary placement documentation and checks are completed accurately and in a timely manner, in accordance with College procedures and relevant health and safety, safeguarding and insurance requirements.
• Ensure work experience placements and associated learner and employer information are accurately recorded and maintained on College systems, including Grofar, to support effective monitoring, reporting and audit requirements.
