Job summary

Novus, the prison education provider at HMP Rye Hill, is seeking a Multi Skills Construction Teacher to deliver engaging vocational learning in a supportive prison setting. This permanent, full-time role offers 37 hours per week and requires a teaching qualification with trade knowledge.

Applicants should have Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy, construction trades experience, and a track record of high-quality reporting and learner motivation.

Qualifications

  • Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification – or a commitment to obtain one within 12 months.
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Experience and knowledge in plastering, brickwork, joinery, painting and decorating, or another construction discipline.
  • Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant learning environments conducive to learning and motivation.
  • Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets.
  • Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Can motivate and enthuse learners.
  • Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Demonstrate positive team working.
  • 40 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.

Are you passionate about construction and keen to inspire learners to build practical skills for the future? We’re looking for a dedicated Multi Skills Construction Teacher to join our team at HMP Rye Hill, delivering engaging vocational learning in a supportive prison education setting. If you have knowledge and experience in trades such as plastering, brickwork, joinery, painting and decorating, or another construction discipline and hope to pass on your skills to the next generation, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider atHMP Rye Hill, working as a Multi Skills Construction Teacher. This role is offered on apermanent, full-timebasis, working37hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Rye Hill Prison is located in the rural setting of Willoughby, which is situated near Rugby in Warwickshire. It is a Category C prison that houses adult male inmates. The prison’s regime, facilities, and support services are designed to address the diverse needs of its population, promoting rehabilitation and reducing reoffending rates. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification – or a commitment to obtain one outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Experience and knowledge in plastering, brickwork, joinery, painting and decorating, or another construction discipline
