Job summary

Skilled Careers seeks a Project Manager to lead a key project in the retail and leisure sectors from their Maidstone base. The role involves delivering up to £15m design & build schemes, chairing meetings, and coordinating design, logistics and site teams to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.

The successful candidate will have a stable main-contractor background, HS qualifications, and strong MS Project and Office skills, with a customer-focused, professional approach.

Qualifications

• H&S qualifications: SMSTS or IOSH, CSCS card, First Aid.
• Working knowledge of MS Project.
• Commercial and contractual awareness with strong management skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Full accountability for safe, successful and profitable delivery of design & build projects up to £15m.
• Lead project team, supply chain and subcontractors throughout all phases.
• Own construction programme, phased delivery and stakeholder coordination.
• Manage temporary facilities strategy to maintain continuity.
• Be primary client/consultant contact, chair progress meetings, report progress.
• Oversee demolition, civils, extensions, internal fit-outs and external works.
• Ensure SHEQ compliance, safety culture, quality and environmental performance.
• Control project budget, cost, quality and risk objectives.
• Coordinate design, logistics, temporary works and live-environment interfaces.
• Report to Operations Director on programme, risks and commercial performance.

The role:

Due to continuous project awards across the South East the need has arisen to recruit for a Project Manager to join a key project in the the retail & leisure sectors.

Key responsibilities:

• Full accountability for the safe, successful and profitable delivery of design & build projects up to £15m in value across the retail, banking, leisure and student accommodation sectors.
• Leadership and management of the project team (Senior Site Managers, Site Managers andLogistics Managers), supply chain and specialist subcontractors throughout all project phases.
• Ownership and control of the construction programme, ensuring phased delivery, stakeholder coordination and uninterrupted club operations.
• Management of the temporary facilities strategy to maintain business continuity throughout the works.
• Primary point of contact for the client, consultants and key stakeholders, chairing progress meetings and producing project reports.
• Oversight of all construction activities including demolition, civils, structural alterations, extensions, external works and high-specification internal fit-outs.
• Responsibility for project compliance with SHEQ requirements, driving safety culture, quality standards and environmental performance.
• Commercial and operational management of the project, ensuring programme, cost, quality and risk objectives are achieved.
• Coordination of design, logistics, temporary works, stakeholder interfaces and operational constraints associated with working in a live environment.
• Reporting directly to the OperationsDirector, providing regular updates on programme, risks, opportunities, commercial performance and project delivery.

About You:

• A stable CV is required that demonstrates tenure within a main contractor
• Relevant H&S qualifications (SMSTS orIOSH, A relevant CSCS card andFirst Aid training)
• Working knowledge of MS Projectwould be an advantage.
• A commercial and contractual awareness balanced by excellent management skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
• Desire to understand and promote the company purpose, vision, values and culture
