Job summary

Yorkshire Choice Homes is seeking a Construction Buyer (New Build) to source and procure materials for residential projects. The role involves negotiating with suppliers, collaborating with project managers, architects, and the construction team to ensure on-time delivery and quality while managing budgets.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of building materials, cost-quality assessments, and excellent communication to work across teams in a friendly, dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of Building Materials and cost-quality trade-offs.
• Understanding of construction processes and industry standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers, architects and stakeholders to identify materials and services for each new build project.
• Conduct market research to identify suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating capabilities, pricing and track record.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost effectiveness and favorable terms, while maintaining supplier relationships.
• Work closely with the construction team to ensure timely delivery and that materials meet required specifications.
• Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes and advancements in construction materials for informed sourcing decisions.
• Collaborate with the finance department to track and manage project budgets and cost control in procurement.
• Participate in regular cross-functional meetings to provide procurement updates and address issues.
