Construction Contract Manager - Automation Projects

Birmingham, West Midlands (UK Wide coverage)

Our Birmingham-based client specializes in providing bespoke automation and materials handling solutions to major UK companies. Due to ongoing success and strategic expansion, they are seeking a skilled, articulate, and self-motivated Construction Contract Manager to join their project team.

The successful candidate will maintain communication with site managers, staff, and clients to ensure smooth operations and consistent service delivery. Responsibilities include managing quality assurance protocols, ensuring projects are on time and within budget, overseeing client-facing deliverables, and expanding the client portfolio by identifying new service opportunities and engaging with industry providers.

Essential knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015 is required. Core responsibilities include:

1. Developing initial project budgets based on client requirements, including assumptions and exclusions, in line with legislation.
2. Managing projects from a Principal Contractor perspective, including budget control, site visits, and client meetings focused on H&S and project progress.
3. Coordinating site activities to ensure safety and project continuity, while others handle commercial aspects.
4. Preparing CDM legal documents such as the Construction Phase H&S Plan, TMPs, and Fire Safety Plans.
5. Ensuring deliverables match contractual agreements and managing scope changes to prevent financial loss.
6. Managing supplier and labor contracts throughout projects.
7. Collecting and distributing H&S and O&M documentation at project completion.

Additional duties may include acting as a resource for Construction H&S within a sister division.

Qualifications should include NEBOSH Certificate Level 3 (General or Construction), SMSTS training, and membership of the Associate of Project Safety (APS). Candidates should have at least 3 years of successful construction industry experience, strong commercial acumen, and skills in budget management, conflict resolution, project management, and negotiation.
