Job summary

Birchrose Associates in London is seeking an experienced Conflicts Advisor to join its Risk function on a permanent basis. You will review new clients and matters, advise on conflicts and confidentiality, and collaborate with Partners and lawyers across jurisdictions.

The role offers broad international exposure, involvement in complex client matters, and a hybrid working pattern (2/3 days in the office). The ideal candidate has 3+ years in conflicts or risk within a professional services

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in conflicts/risk in a legal or professional services environment.
• Familiar with information barriers and confidentiality.
• Strong research and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Review proposed new clients and matters to identify potential conflicts and reputational risks.
• Carry out detailed risk research using internal systems and external sources.
• Provide practical guidance on conflicts and confidentiality issues to Partners and lawyers.
• Support assessment of sanctions, financial crime and reputational concerns.
• Advise on information barriers and governance controls.
• Collaborate with Risk and Financial Crime teams on complex matters.
• Work with international conflicts teams to ensure consistency across workflows.
• Contribute to process improvements in conflicts procedures and systems.
• Manage a varied caseload with accuracy and commercial awareness.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a conflicts professional to join a sophisticated global risk function and work closely with senior lawyers across the firm. The role offers broad international exposure, with regular involvement in complex client and matter intake issues and close collaboration with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing proposed new clients and matters to identify potential legal, commercial and reputational conflicts
• Carrying out detailed research using internal systems and external sources to support risk assessments
• Working closely with Partners and lawyers to provide practical guidance on conflicts and confidentiality issues
• Supporting the assessment of wider risk considerations, including sanctions, financial crime and reputational concerns
• Advising on the appropriate use and management of information barriers
• Liaising with colleagues across the wider Risk and Financial Crime teams on complex or higher‑risk matters
• Collaborating with international conflicts teams to ensure consistency and continuity across global workflows
• Contributing to improvements in conflicts processes, systems and internal risk procedures
• Managing a varied caseload while maintaining a high level of accuracy, judgement and commercial awareness

Requirements

• At least 3 years’ experience within conflicts, risk or a related legal or professional services environment
