Job summary

Morson Group in Hemel Hempstead is seeking an Interim Head of Configuration Management to lead the development and deployment of a global Configuration Management Framework across the organisation. You will report to the Chief Engineer and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, IT and Programme Management to embed CM discipline into daily workflows.

The role requires deep knowledge of EIA-649 and ISO 10007, hands-on rollout experience, and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Configuration Management with at least 3 years in leadership.
• Deep knowledge of CM standards and frameworks (EIA-649, ISO 10007).
• Strong understanding of multi-discipline engineering practices.
• Hands-on CM software tools experience.
• Experience in regulated industries advantageous.
• Excellent stakeholder management and planning abilities.

Interim Head of Configuration Management

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Configuration Management to lead the development and deployment of a global Configuration Management Framework across the organisation. Reporting to the Chief Engineer at the Hemel Hempstead site, this role involves close collaboration with key stakeholders, including external consultants, to establish foundational Configuration Management processes, governance structures, documentation, organisational roles, and operating practices. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support throughout framework implementation, pilot projects, rollout preparations, and the initial post-launch period.

This role requires a structured and pragmatic leader with deep knowledge of Configuration Management standards (EIA-649, ISO 10007) and the ability to translate principles into practical business processes. You will partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Master Data Management, IT, and Programme Management teams to embed Configuration Management discipline into daily workflows. Responsibilities include defining roles and responsibilities, supporting recruitment, assessing product and configuration data quality, establishing data standards, developing performance metrics, and contributing to tool and interface design.

The role demands excellent stakeholder management, outstanding organisational skills, and the tenacity to drive site-wide adoption of best-in-class Configuration Management practices. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Skills

• Extensive experience (8+ years) in Configuration Management with at least 3 years in leadership
• Deep knowledge of Configuration Management standards and frameworks (EIA-649, ISO 10007)
• Strong understanding of multi-discipline engineering practices and processes
• Expertise in Configuration Management software tools
• Strong understanding of change control processes, baseline management, and audit practices
• Hands-on experience with Teamcenter preferred
• Experience in regulated industries (aerospace, defence, medical devices, automotive) advantageous
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Outstanding organisational and planning abilities
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
