Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting for a full-time Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist secondary SEND school in Newcastle.

You will support secondary pupils with complex needs, helping them engage with lessons, develop their communication and independence, and follow EHCPs.

The role offers weekly PAYE pay, ongoing training through our CPD Academy, and a supportive consultant to help you thrive in placement.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND/complex needs is preferred.
• Ability to work 1:1 and in groups.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Protocol Education is recruiting for a full-time Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist secondary SEND school in Newcastle.

You’ll be supporting secondary-aged pupils with complex additional needs, helping them engage with education while developing their communication, social skills and independence.

Every pupil is different, so you’ll need to be adaptable and able to build positive relationships based on trust and consistency.

Your responsibilities

• Deliver tailored 1:1 and group support
• Help pupils engage with lessons and activities
• Support communication and interaction
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Develop pupils’ confidence and independence
• Support individual learning and development targets
• Assist with practical and life-skills activities

• Work alongside teaching and specialist staff
