Job summary

St Mungo's in Reading is seeking two Complex Caseworkers to support individuals with complex needs experiencing homelessness. You will manage a caseload and deliver person-centred interventions to help transition clients from rough sleeping to sustainable housing and independent living.

The role involves collaboration with the Rough Sleeper Navigator Coordinator, Outreach team and partner agencies to secure housing, health, employment and training pathways. Training and supervision are provided.

Qualifications

  • Good communication skills and ability to network with a range of people.
  • Understanding of supporting vulnerable people with complex needs (substance use, health issues).
  • Willingness to receive supervision and training to deliver high quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a caseload of clients and provide day-to-day support during transition from rough sleeping to accommodation.
  • Focus on tenancy sustainment and independent living for clients in housing pathways.
  • Collaborate with Rough Sleeper Navigator Coordinator, Outreach team and partner agencies to deliver sustainable outcomes.
  • Advocate for marginalised clients to help access services and longer-term recovery.
  • Work hours are Monday–Friday with occasional out-of-hours through SWEP to support the team.

Job description

Are you a creative person looking for role where you can make a lasting difference to people experiencing homelessness in Reading?

We are looking for 2 Complex Caseworkers to join our Rough Sleeper team in Reading who provide intensive support to people with complex needs experiencing homelessness. This passionate team offer person centred support service to help people who require a specialist intervention approach to support them through the transition from rough sleeping into sustainable accommodation.

We currently have 2 opportunities available:

  • Supporting women experiencing homelessness, including those affected by violence against women and girls (VAWG).
  • Supporting a mixed cohort of clients experiencing homelessness with complex needs.

In both roles you will work collaboratively with the Rough Sleeper Navigator Coordinator and Outreach team as well as relevant partner agencies in Reading to deliver sustainable outcomes to clients.

  • You will advocate for clients who have been some of the most marginalised in the local area, to make a real and long lasting difference to their recovery.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing a caseload of clients and providing day to day support to clients with their transition from the streets into accommodation and independent living with a strong focus on tenancy sustainment and rescue.
  • This includes working with people on health, housing, employment and training support. You will be given support to build strong relationships with a range of other services to find creative and sustainable routes to recovery for clients.
  • You're typical working hours will be Monday - Friday, with flexibility to work outside of these hours at times to support the team through SWEP.

  • If you have good communication skills, with the ability to network and build effective relationships with a variety of people,
  • You should have a good working understanding of supporting vulnerable with complex needs, such as substance use, mental and physical health issues, and the ability to understand the difficulties they experience in accessing services that full meet their needs.
  • We will provide you with support, supervision and training so that you can develop the necessary skills to offer a high quality service to clients.
