Job summary

Avery Healthcare is recruiting a warm and dedicated Sous Chef to join Avonmere Care Home in Bristol. You will support the Head Chef in leading a culinary team to deliver nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals for residents within budget.

The ideal candidate will hold City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ (or equivalent), have at least 1 year of catering experience, and demonstrate compassion and reliability. A DBS check and UK work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent).
• Have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services for residents.
• Able to be adaptive and flexible to cover various responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, providing instruction to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
• Understanding safe food handling to ensure highest hygiene standards.
• Supporting all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.
