Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Sous Chef for Derby Heights Care Home in Littleover, Derby. You will assist the Head Chef in leading a culinary team that delivers nutritionally balanced meals for residents, while managing budgets and maintaining high standards.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1/2 or NVQ) and have at least 1 year of catering experience, with a strong commitment to resident wellbeing and food safety.

Qualifications

• Hold City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services for residents.
• Be adaptable to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervise and direct culinary staff as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction to unqualified staff.
• Ensure food handling meets the highest hygiene standards.
• Support all culinary team members in understanding Avery Food safety management system.
