Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for Northfield, Birmingham, to support a mainstream primary school on a long-term, full-time basis. Start ASAP with a competitive daily rate.

You will provide targeted support to pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD and speech and language needs, and work with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored plans. DBS Update Service preferred.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a primary school or with SEND.
  • Patient, nurturing and positive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of inclusive learning practices.
  • Ability to stay calm and resilient.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support and small group interventions for pupils with SEND.
  • Support children with ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH needs.
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet individual learning requirements.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans.
  • Encourage participation, independence and positive behaviour.
  • Support pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day.
  • Build strong, positive relationships to help pupils develop confidence and reach their potential.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
