Job summary

Aspire People are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in South Birmingham. This full-time, five-day-per-week role supports pupils with a range of needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate in class activities.

The role involves one-to-one and small-group support, close collaboration with the teacher and SENDCO, and a commitment to fostering inclusive practices. Start ASAP.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN TA in a primary setting.
• Able to adapt activities for diverse needs and maintain inclusive practice.
• Good communication with staff, pupils and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCO to deliver learning support.
• Support children with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs and SEMH.
• Adapt activities so all pupils access the curriculum.
• Encourage independence, confidence and active participation.
• Support pupils during lessons, interventions, breaktimes and activities.
• Help manage behaviour positively and consistently per school policies.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents.
• Build strong relationships to help pupils reach their potential.
