Job summary

Connex Education Partnership in Handsworth, Birmingham, is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs in a school setting.

The role covers 1:1 and small-group support, assisting with personal care where required, and helping pupils develop independence, behaviour management, and social skills, while working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is essential.
• Must be comfortable providing personal care.
• A patient, caring and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• A relevant TA qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties and communication needs.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support in the classroom.
• Assisting with personal care, including toileting and changing, where required.
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation, behaviour and daily routines.
• Working closely with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills.
