Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a school in Stoke on Trent. The role focuses on providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, fostering an inclusive classroom and helping learners access the curriculum.

You will work closely with teachers, SEND staff, therapists and parents to implement individual education plans and promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence in students throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, especially with SEN/SEND.
• Patient, calm, compassionate and resilient.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Confident providing 1:1 and small group support.
• Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
• Support children with SEND, autism, communication and behavioural needs.
• Build positive relationships to promote confidence and independence.
• Support pupils inside and outside the classroom to access the curriculum.
• Assist teachers with delivering engaging lessons and adapting activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour and social, emotional development.
• Work with teachers, SEND staff, therapists and parents on education plans.
• Help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Encourage independence and life skills.
