Job summary

Academics are recruiting on behalf of an 'Outstanding' Primary SEN School in Southampton who are looking to appoint several compassionate Special School Assistants to join them in September. Working hours are 8.45am-3.15pm, Monday-Friday during term-time.

The school caters for pupils aged 4-11 with complex needs including autism, speech and language disorders and challenging behaviours. You will support classes of up to 9 pupils with 1:1 and small group work, help with learning, feeding and

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, or Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths.
• Experience with PECS or Makaton would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support classes of up to 9 pupils with 1 class teacher and 3 LSAs.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support and assist with feeding and personal hygiene as needed.
• Be a compassionate, reliable and resilient role model for pupils with complex needs.
