Job summary

Academics is seeking a Youth Support Worker for a Headington school in Oxford. You will support students aged 5–11 with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions, manage behaviours and progress academically within a nurturing, structured setting.

The role operates during term-time with close senior leadership support. The successful candidate will bring patience, empathy and a willingness to learn, with prior SEMH experience desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to work with children aged 5–11 in a school setting.
• Strong commitment to developing emotional regulation and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management in daily activities.
• Assist with academic progress under school guidance and EHCP goals.
• Work as part of a team to create a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
