Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Chesterfield and surrounding areas. The role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support, working with teachers and SENDCOs to implement learning plans, and helping children access the curriculum while building confidence and independence.

Ideal candidates will have SEND experience in a primary setting, be patient and nurturing, and able to adapt approaches to meet individual needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND in a primary setting.
• Patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.
• Ability to support children on a 1:1 or small-group basis.
• Able to adapt approach to individual needs.
• Commitment to helping children reach their potential.
• TA qualification preferred but not required with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Work closely with teachers and SENDCOs to support individual learning plans.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and develop their confidence and independence.
• Support children with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Use a range of strategies to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and assist with classroom duties.
• Promote an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment.
