Job summary

St Richard's Catholic Primary School in Chichester is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to join our friendly staff and support children with diverse learning needs. You will work under the SENCO and teachers to provide individual, small-group and classroom assistance, helping pupils access learning and build confidence.

The role requires prior experience with primary-age children, a patient and positive approach, good literacy and numeracy, and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusive

Qualifications

• Experience of working with primary-age children, preferably including children with SEND.
• A patient, calm, adaptable and positive approach to supporting children with barriers to learning.
• The ability to build warm, positive and professional relationships with children.
• An understanding that behaviour can be a form of communication and the ability to respond positively.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality support for pupils with EHCPs and other learning barriers.
• Offer individual, small-group and classroom support to help pupils access learning.
• Support development of communication and social skills and increase independence.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and support staff to track progress.
