Job summary

Ayrshire Independent Living Network is seeking a kind, reliable Personal Assistant to support an older gentleman in his own home in South Ayrshire. The role requires flexibly providing respite and cover for his son and may arise when the son is unavailable, offering reassurance and continuity of care.

The gentleman has mild cognitive impairment, type 2 diabetes, reduced mobility, and incontinence. Applicants must be comfortable around dogs and able to support daily living tasks with patience.

Qualifications

• Kind, compassionate and respectful.
• Patient and understanding of memory difficulties.
• Comfortable around dogs.
• Previous care or support experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support with daily living, personal care and general wellbeing.
• Assist with morning and evening personal care, including washing, dressing and oral hygiene.
• Support with toileting, continence care and dignity.
• Assist mobility and safe movement around the home.
• Prepare and serve meals, snacks and drinks with fresh water.
• Support with medications as directed.
• Offer companionship and reassurance.
• accompany on occasional outings, including mobility scooter use.
• Monitor wellbeing and maintain a safe, comfortable environment.
• Be flexible to varying toileting needs and routines.
