Job summary

Pembrokeshire Direct Payments is seeking a friendly Personal Assistant in Pembrokeshire to support a client with community access and independence. The role is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and requires flexibility to meet care needs, with experience in Additional Learning Needs seen as a bonus.

The successful candidate will assist with personal care, accompany to activities, provide companionship and support safeguarding and appointments as needed.

Qualifications

• Friendly and supportive approach to care.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Ability to support client with independence and decision making.
• Experience with Additional Learning Needs (Autism, PDA, ADHD) is beneficial.
• Safeguarding awareness and ability to report concerns.
• Ability to prompt personal care and assist with activities of daily living.

Responsibilities

• Support the client at activities of interest (trains, painting, boats).
• Remain patient and calming during anxious moments.
• Encourage independence and social interaction in the community.
• Provide companionship and engage in conversation at home.
• Encourage attendance at appointments.
• Ensure safety during working hours.
• Carry out other reasonable tasks as requested by employer.
• Report safeguarding concerns to the relevant authority.
• Liaise with GP/Social Worker/Local Authority as needed.
