Job summary

Pembrokeshire Direct Payments is seeking a Personal Assistant/Carer (Relief) to support a Direct Payments recipient in Pembrokeshire. The role focuses on enabling the client to manage their support and meet care needs independently, with flexible hours to fit the care plan.

The successful candidate should be friendly, supportive and able to participate in activities that promote independence and social interaction, while ensuring safety and safeguarding at all times.

Qualifications

• Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
• Ensure a structured set of activities is maintained.
• Support the person to access activities such as walking group.
• Communicate with the person’s family and other supporters.
• Support the employer to develop independent living skills.
• Provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation and social interaction.
• Ensure the employer’s safety at all times during working hours.
• Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the employer during working hours.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback on concerns to the relevant authority.
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if medical assistance is needed.
