Job summary

Pembrokeshire Direct Payments is seeking a compassionate personal assistant to support a young person with ASD at their home in Pembrokeshire. You will build trust, encourage activities, assist with personal hygiene and help access community groups, outings and social interactions.

Experience or knowledge of autism, patience with triggers like loud noises, and the ability to communicate with family and professionals will help ensure the employer's safety and wellbeing during working hours.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with family and wider support network.

Responsibilities

• Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
• Encourage personal hygiene and structured activities.
• Support participation in activities and access to community groups.
• Develop one‑on‑one interactions through outings and physical activities.
• Provide companionship and social interaction at home.
• Ensure the employer’s safety during working hours.
• Carry out reasonable tasks as requested by the employer.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues and report concerns.
