Pembrokeshire Direct Payments is seeking two Personal Assistants to support a son with additional learning needs in Pembrokeshire. The role focuses on enabling independence, helping with community access, and fostering social interaction and decision-making around care.

Flexibility to meet care needs is essential, with safeguarding and prompt reporting of concerns as part of duties. Experience with autism and complex needs is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
• Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community
• Providing support whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
• Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
• To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
• Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
• Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance

A Direct Payment client’s parents in Pembrokeshire are looking to employ 2 Personal Assistants to support their son, who has additional learning needs, to access the community. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. Some experience with Autism and complex needs would be preferred. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.
